Founder Ann Watson and her team are the real property experts. At school, Ann Watson was encouraged to train for a “secure” job as a teacher but she quickly found that her real passion lay elsewhere - in the more unpredictable world of business and eventually property development.
Ann found an opportunity to combine her business skills with her training as a teacher. when she purchased a failing local preparatory school and became its Head Mistress. Under her leadership, the school soon outgrew its premises, and Ann began the search for a larger property to accommodate the increased number of pupils and staff. At that time with no previous knowledge of the property market, she successfully located suitable premises, negotiated a deal to acquire the part of the building she needed and preceded to project-manage its conversion into classrooms. It was during the process of acquiring these new school premises that Ann caught the property bug!
A little later she sold her thriving private school and made a handsome profit - but to her surprise, not from the school itself on which she had worked so hard but from the greatly increased value she had made to its buildings.
To Ann, the lesson was clear. The ex-head mistress concentrated her efforts full time on the property business. She purchased properties both new and old, project-managed conversions, resold and rented, acquired even more properties abroad and learned a great deal about the do’s and don’ts of property investment.
Ann now has a sizeable and varied portfolio of properties and has increased her personal wealth by more than she imagined possible. Ever the teacher, her mission today is to share that knowledge to enable others to achieve what she herself has achieved - but only faster.
For years, Ann Watson had been one of those people who used to watch TV programs like Property Ladder, Grand Designs and Homes Under Hammer and who would dream of building and renovating property. The thing is that instead of just dreaming Ann actually made that dream of property development a reality. Now she helps other people fulfil their property ambitions. In 2007 Ann launched Developadream.com to link together wannabe self builders, developers and buy to let investors with professionals and businesses who could help them achieve their property dreams. Through a social networking platform, dedicated to people in property, Ann wanted to connect people who would share their experiences and expertise. “I know that my success with property has been achieved because of the help, advice and support of my team of property professionals. My accountant, solicitor, architect, planning consultant, builder, letting agent, estate agent and land agent. This site helps people connect to other people in property so that they can put together their own ‘Dream Team’ and hopefully achieve similar success” said Ann. For the professionals involved in the property sector, this has undoubtedly been a very difficult period. Developadream Professionals Networking Group has brought together influential people in property to promote, preserve and further business opportunities through the development of compelling and supportive business relationships. Now that the property market is starting to climb out of recession and with an undoubted shortage of new houses being built, many people are turning once again to the idea of building their own home which is where Ann and her contacts can help.
